Joanne Hawkins Summer Fundraising Report

I am delighted to report that the ‘Lazy Summer Sunday BBQ’ in aid of Faceup Cymru on Bank Holiday Sunday 27th August 2017 was a huge success raising £3,355 on the night.

We were blessed with the hottest bank holiday in years.  Our hosts Gareth and Heather Lee of the Rock & Fountain were amazing, almost organising the whole thing on my behalf.   www.therockandfountain.com

They found and secured the wide variety of artists who all supported our charity with significantly reduced and in some cases, no cost to our expenditure.

We had two bands, one Spanish acoustic artist and a singer, all taking turns to perform throughout the afternoon and evening late into the warm summer night.

The food at the BBQ was donated by Bookers to Gareth Lee for our charity event, and was both excellent and ably prepared on the evening by Gareth and his team.  www.booker.co.uk (Cwmbran)

The evening was magical, as the stage and tables were set amongst the old stone building and flag stone floors and as the sun went down, the building retained the heat and gave the atmosphere of a typical Spanish night.  Once the dancing had finished, those that were left were able to sit out until late.

In addition, Jon and Steve Moore of MVR Solutions, Newport, won a golf competition and nominated Faceup Cymru as the small charity they wanted to support.

They presented the cheque for £2,000 to add to my summer fundraising campaign.   www.mvrsolutions.co.uk

And finally, after a visit to my local dentist, Dr Justin Roberts of ISCA Dental, Caerleon, Justin very kindly added £50 to the cause.  www.iscadental.co.uk

So, I am delighted to report the Summer Fundraising Campaign has raised a grand total of……….

£5,405.00

17th October 2017 – Crafty Devil Cellar Bar & Shop “get-together”

On Tuesday,17th October 2017 from 2pm until everyone has gone home, we have organised a very informal get-together at the Craft Devil Cellar Bar & Shop, 16 Llandaff Road, Canton, Cardiff, CF11 9NJ. It’s a cosy room behind the shop, which we will have all to ourselves. Tea and Coffee will be available as well as other refreshments you would expect in a small bar!

It is an opportunity to relax in good company and maybe share experiences and tips on how to manage living with the various effects of head, neck & mouth cancer.

Arrive when you want and leave when you want – it’s that informal!

There is a public car park behind the shop which is free for the first hour and a half so parking isn’t a problem.

If you need more information, please call Peter or Ann Blaney on 07923 235757.

Look forward to seeing you there.
