Charity Concert series 2018 – 19 by Jayne Thomas

In 2018 , Jayne Thomas approached us with an offer to put on concerts for the benefit of Face up .  This lady kindly worked tirelessly and arranged a series of coffee concerts as well as spring and Jazz concerts at St Edwards Church in Penylan.  These were excellent and were enjoyed by all.

A concert was arranged at St Andrews Church in Roath where the Cwmbach Male voice choir as well as a visiting Croatian Choir performed.  This was an outstanding evening and thoroughly enjoyed by a full house.

In total , these concerts raised £4,375.  The hard work by this lovely lady really paid off and face up is eternally grateful.

Quiz Night and Cake sale

There was a fantastic quiz night for Face up , Kindly organised by Siew  Chin, from the Resorative department at the Cardiff Dental hospital .

All the entries were taken and they raised over £1600 – Enormous thanks to Siew and everyone who came.

Also thanks to the girls in the restorative department  at the Dental hospital who had a cake sale and raised £150 – again this effort is so appreciated

Fund raising events

Hi,

As with any charity, we always welcome offers to help raise money.  If you have any ideas eg Coffee morning ; concerts ; skittle matches ; car boot sale please let us know via the. email and we can help with sponsorship forms; leaflets; banners and importantly collecting tins.

Also if you are planning on running eg marathon like John Vlahos, then we now have Face up vests which we can give  you to wear.  These  were kindly purchased by our trustee Peter Manning – we are indebted to him for his generosity.

Every penny helps so please think hard and if you can help we would be eternally grateful

Management committee

Due to the success of our fund raising , the charity has money  to use for the benefit of Head and Neck cancer patients- all is used for the patients.

It was discussed and agreed by the trustees, that a management committee should be set up to oversee the support group, look how to distribute small grants as well as fundraising. Two consultant colleagues – Sandeep Berry  and Liam Addy have agreed to set up this group which will represent all people who look after our patients and we will also be looking for at least two patient representatives .

We will update this in the very near future but please refer to the small grants policy document and application form

London Marathon 2020

Great news- John Vlahos- one of our patients but also a trustee has managed to get a place on the 2020 London Marathon. All the monies raised will be for Face up.

Please watch this space for regular updates. In particular we are launching our Virgin just giving charity site soon and the good news for John is that he will be starting training very soon and we will have a weekly update on Face ups answer to Mo Farah !!!
