Thank you John Hawkins & Rhiwbina Dental.

Thank you John Hawkins & Rhiwbina Dental for your long term support, we at Faceup Cymru would like to say a big thank you.

October marks 50 YEARS of a dental surgery in Rhiwbina.
We are so proud to be able to present this donation to John Hawkins, founder of the original dentist on Heol Y Deri. This phenomenal amount was raised at the Rhiwbina Summer Festival, with all proceeds going to Faceup Cymru. John works very closely with this wonderful charity as a survivor himself. Thank you John, for being such an inspiration and for passing on this wonderful practice and it’s patients to Nick.

A big thank you to Jayne Thomas who kindly organised a special concert at the St Andrews Church in Roath. This involved the Cwmbach Male Choir who entertained with classical Welsh choir songs and special guests – the Choir Roźenice from Croatia. They sang traditional Croatian melodies and then the choirs joined to sing two songs together.
This was an outstanding evening , really appreciated by the full house present at the church.

Please see some photos of the evening.

I also attach a list of forthcoming concerts – I would encourage you to attend

This should be a wonderful evening, if your free this Wednesday (12th Sept) come along an enjoy  the wonderful sound of the Cwmbach Male Voice Choir, plus, special guests Choir Rozenice  from Croatia.  Ticket are £10 each and available on the door, all proceeds go to Faceup Cymru.

3 year old Oliver Hawkins walks for Faceup Cymru.

Oliver (3) has been inspired by his adventurous Grandma (former patient Joanne Hawkins) and wanted to climb some mountains during the summer holidays. We set ourselves the challenge of doing six in 6 weeks, Twmbarlwm, Skirrid, Blorenge, Sugar Loaf, Table Mountain and finally Pen y Fan.

Oliver walked every step of the way (without being carried) on all six of them, every single step!

If you would like to sponsor him for completing his challenge the link is below, it’s for a very special charity to us ❤️

Faceup patient support group meeting

Wednesday 26th September from  1.15pm to 3pm.

At Cardiff City Community Table Tennis Club, Unit 4, Dominion Way, Newport Road, Cardiff, CF24 1RF

Faceup patients, family and friends, do you fancy a fun afternoon?  How about trying your hand a table tennis?  You can do as little or as much as you like or, if you just fancy a get together and a chat over a cup of tea or coffee we would love to see you.

Neil Hutchings – Former Chairman of Faceup Cymru

It is with great sadness that Faceup Cymru has received notice of the death of our former Chairman – Neil Hutchings.

Neil was a great friend as well as a huge supporter of our charity.  Following his mother’s successful treatment with us, he became interested in the charity, working tirelessly on its behalf and eventually took on the role as Chairman.

He really worked hard for the charity and it wouldn’t be in the place it is today without his efforts alongside those of Barbara Sainsbury.

He eventually decides to hand the baton over but kept in touch.  Some of us will have fond memories of lunching with him before a rugby international where he would recant old stories.

He was a true gentleman and a great ambassador for Treorchy and certainly from Faceup he will be sadly missed.

The Funeral details are as follows:

Friday 24th August  –

2.15pm –  Service at St Peter’s Church, Pentre.  R.C.T,  CF41 7AX

3.45pm – Cremation at Llwydcoed Crematorium, Aberdare, CF44 0DJ

The wake will be at Treorchy RFC, Regent Street, Treorchy.

Everyone welcome.
